As the nation paused to recognize the courageous men and women who have served in the armed forces, two veterans who are working to regain their independence after stroke shared their stories with the local media.
In Omaha, WOWT featured Victor Cabriales. After serving 34 years in the U.S. Army, the 66-year-old is now battling in the Madonna TherapyPlus Rehabilitation Day Program to build his strength and walk again after a stroke.

In Lincoln, Laurence “Gunner” James channels discipline learned from his 28 years in the Navy to his recovery from a stroke at Madonna TherapyPlus Main Campus. In a report from KOLN/KGIN Channels 10/11, James shared how he plans to return to work at Duncan Aviation.
